Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up in New York City, Mitchell received a degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. After two years, she joined NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. She was made chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell is a regular on the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She participated as a member of the panel at 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Her coverage included a variety of important stories like the Iran-contra affair, the tax reform and the budget and also the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively along with President Reagan to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev.
